On 29 September 2014, Prof. em. Patrick Sorgeloos received the Chinese Government Friendship Award, the highest Chinese award conferred to non-Chinese citizens. This year’s Friendship Award was awarded to more than 100 foreign citizens by Vice Premier Mr Ma Kai in a grand ceremony in the Great Hall of the People.
